It’s been awhile since I’ve talked about my insane trip down to Costa Rica.  Although we prepared most of our meals at home while I was in Jaco, I had the opportunity to try some fabulous restaurants.  The food was a blend of Caribbean and Spanish cuisines.  The places we visited did not disappoint.

Lemon ZestEl Jardin Plaza, Jaco 4023, Costa Rica
Many reviews boasted that this was one of the best eateries in the area and came highly recommended from the property manager at our bungalow.  Naturally, we had to scope it out.  I couldn’t have been more impressed.   The waitstaff was incredibly friendly and went out of their way to make the dining experience a memorable one. The food was flavorful and the drinks were perfectly mixed. Be sure to ask what the specials of the day are.  You won’t be disappointed with Lemon Zest.

Jungle Surf: Main Highway, Playa Hermosa, Costa Rica
Attention tuna lovers, this is the place for you.  Jungle Surf is known for their tuna steaks. Although it does not look like much on the outside, this is one of the best dining options around.  The food is incredibly fresh and the staff is very laid back and friendly. Although they specialize in seafood, there are options for us that don’t eat from the sea.  I had a pork dish that was to die for! We were told that we could bring our own beer to the restaurant.  The owner, Phil, put it in the fridge for us to keep it cold.  We cracked open a few beers with him and enjoyed his delicious cooking. Now that’s service!

Pizza Bocha
I know, I know.  Typical Americans.  We can’t go a week without our American dietary staples.  In this case: pizza. But come on, who doesn’t love a decent, thick crust pizza?  What was even more appealing, they delivered the grub to our bungalow.   The pizza was a bit dry (you may want to ask for extra sauce) but it was a taste of home and made for the perfect drunken meal.

About Elle:

I’m Elle (pronounced just like the letter L), you may have heard of me from such projects as…well…okay, so you’ve never heard of me.   Let’s move on.  I’m 28 years old.  Sometimes a woman, sometimes a lady, sometimes a girl.  I work to travel, I travel to live.

My biggest secret is that I am a pretty nervous person.  I’m always leery about the outcome of events and worried about getting hurt.  I’m sure this stems from my many accidents (2 broken arms, a train wreck, an explosion, an incident that involved a life guard, etc).  Despite all of this, I love testing myself and trying to conquer my fears.  I hope to experience so much more through my travels.

I love the simple things in life, music, history, road trips, reading, cartoons, The History Channel, shopping, cheese (despite being lactose intolerant), hiking, rock climbing, laying out on the beach, snorkeling, margaritas, spending time with my friends and family.

I’m a true Floridiot and spend most of my time at the beach.  In fact, most of my research and writing for this blog is done from the sand or by the pool.
