A Member Of Our Party Recently Had ACL Surgery. Can They Participate In Sky Adventures’s Sky Tram Aerial Tram Ride, Sky Trek Canopy Ziplining Tour, And Sky Walk Hanging Bridges?

You asked…

A member of our party recently had ACL surgery. Can they participate in Sky Adventures’s Sky Tram aerial tram ride, Sky Trek canopy ziplining tour, and Sky Walk hanging bridges?

We answered…

This will entirely depend on the traveller’s level of recovery and comfort. He/she should be able to participate in the Sky Tram aerial tram ride without problem, since very little mobility is required for that activity apart from being able to walk into/onto and out of/off of the aerial tram itself. The bigger concern is participation in the canopy ziplining tour and/or the hanging bridge tour. For the Sky Trek canopy ziplining tour, although the activity involves ziplining from cable to cable, there are some walks (and walks up flights of stairs to some zipline cable structures) that are required. For the Sky Walk hanging bridges tour, this is an approximate 2-3 hour walking tour on forest terrain (depending on whether you plan to participate in the tour at the La Fortuna/Arenal park or the Monteverde park; Sky Walk tours at the former take approximately 3 hours to complete whereas Sky Walk tours at the latter take approximately 2 hours to complete). For these last two activities, a traveller who recently had surgery must be able to walk over rugged forest terrain, walk for long distances, and climb flights of stairs without issue. If there is any doubt as to whether the traveller will be able to complete these tasks without causing pain, discomfort, or further injury, we would recommend skipping the activities altogether.
