    Hey wayfaringcanuck!

Great username, by the way! 🙂

Puntarenas is a city that’s a bit hit or miss. During cruise season and the carnival period, the city has a lively vibe, and lots of street vendors sell souvenirs and local food. At other times of the year, the city provides less that warrants a visit. During which month were you in Puntarenas?

    Hey Tom!

That’s wonderful! Everyone has their favorite place in CR, and it’s great to learn that yours is Samara. We agree with you about Playa Carrillo; the sunsets there are glorious!

    Hey Lisa!

The drive from La Fortuna to Casa Conde (Playa Panama) takes a little more than 3 hours. For traveling from Casa Conde to an airport for a your flight home, Liberia will be much closer to you in Playa Panama, but you can fly out of San Jose if you want and don’t mind the extra few hours’ drive (if the schedule or flight pricing works better for you to fly out of San Jose). The drive from Casa Conde to the LIR (Liberia/Guanacaste) airport is roughly 20 minutes. The drive from Casa Conde to the SJO (San Jose/Alajuela) airport is roughly 4.5 hours, give or take some time for traffic.

    Hey Alla!

Quick question: Have you yet used our Costa Rica Destination Tool? Most travelers are in the same position you are, and want help deciding which beach town(s) and/or other destinations to visit in Costa Rica, so we built the Costa Rica Destination Tool to help make this decision quick and easy. On our tool, you can select the specific criteria that you want in a destination (there are nearly 150 criteria to choose from) and you’ll instantly receive our destination recommendation(s). Since you’ve already limited your focus to three beach towns on the northern Pacific (Guanacaste) coast, you can select the “Guanacaste/Northern Pacific” criteria on our Costa Rica Destination Tool first, so the recommendation(s) you receive will be limited to that geographical area.

    Pura vida! 🙂
