Great list! The only beach I’ve experienced on the central coast is Puntarenas, for the few hours we had to kill while waiting for the ferry departure. I suppose I got a different impression than everyone else seems to have though, because I left thinking that I’d like to spend more time exploring the city there on my next trip.

Hey wayfaringcanuck!
Great username, by the way! 🙂
Puntarenas is a city that’s a bit hit or miss. During cruise season and the carnival period, the city has a lively vibe, and lots of street vendors sell souvenirs and local food. At other times of the year, the city provides less that warrants a visit. During which month were you in Puntarenas?
