You asked…

What happens to my tour reservations if it rains? Are the tours cancelled? Will I get my money back?

We answered…

Given that Costa Rica is part rainforest, rain is inevitable. We tend to see rain more often in the afternoon and evenings than in the morning (although this of course can change and can vary according to the destinations visited and the time of year of travel). While the majority of tours and activities run rain or shine, there are a handful that could be cancelled due to extreme weather (such as those that are affected by wind and/or water levels including rafting tours, tubing tours, ziplining tours, and canyoneering tours, among others). This being said, cancellations are rare – even during the rain season. In the event of a cancellation issued by the tour operator, most will make an attempt to reschedule the tour/activity for a different day/time. When this is not possible given a traveller’s trip itinerary, travellers are not responsible for paying for the tour (and/or if a payment has already been taken by the tour operator for the tour/activity than the traveller will receive a refund for it).
